Raymond Pettibon
I’ve been thinking alot lately about the art of Raymond Pettibon. I don’t know what it is I like about it specifically. Maybe it’s the ever preseent sense of danger and contained epicness in tiny actions or gestures that he records. The bottom picture, the cover of Sonic Youth’s album Goo, is his most famous work, probably.
This art always makes me think of music like this.
What a poorly written post.
Yeasayer
I was FAIRLY into Yeasayer when their last album came out, but not that much. Not as much as this time, anyway. This is largely due to an AMAZING new song with an AMAZING video, Ambling Alp. This is really crazy. I especially love the bits of ember on the yellow sludge, what a brilliant visual idea. Don’t watch this video unless you’re on your own, it’s pretty NSFW, but still really inspiring and great. Greatgreatgreat. It’s all good. This is the link to Stereogum, where you can see the higher quality version, which is really needed for this.
Rain Machine
Kyp Malone, owner of the world’s greatest oversized beard/oversized glasses combo, and of TV On The Radio fame, made a corker.

Hypnotic Brass Ensemble
Sweet Jesus I love these dudes. HBE have been out for some time now, but haven’t gotten near the amount of hype they deserved. There should have been at LEAST as much hype as there was for Florence & her Machine, and that says something. I first saw them on Later… with Jools Holland, and as high as the standard is for that show, HBE were easily the best thing that whole series.
